Dan has more than 35 years of experience in the financing and acquisition of commercial real estate including loan origination, property acquisition, structured finance, credit and workouts, investment management and mortgage banking. Dan’s knowledge base includes a broad spectrum of investment classes – whole loans, private equity, subordinated debt, commercial mortgage-backed securities and public REIT securities.

Before joining A10, Dan headed CRE loan origination and was chief credit officer-CRE for NewStar Financial, a public specialty finance company he helped found. Prior to NewStar, he spent a decade at JP Morgan Asset Management holding senior positions within its fixed income and global real assets groups. Before joining JP Morgan, Dan held positions at various firms including Aetna Life Insurance and a predecessor firm to HFF.

Dan earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics and history from Williams College. He has been an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School and at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Dan currently lectures in the commercial real estate program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
