Steve has more than 25 years of commercial banking and entrepreneurial experience. His lending experience is extensive and includes construction, bridge, and permanent financing. He has been directly responsible for over $2 billion in new loan originations.

Steve was a founder and principal of Group 1031, LLC, a consulting and advisory services company specializing in investment real estate. The company delivered innovative and creative solutions to real estate clients through a variety of services, including mortgage banking, financial counseling, loan workout services, and advice to clients involved in IRS 1031 real property exchanges.
Before forming Group 1031, Steve served nine years as the vice president and manager of Bank of America’s Real Estate Banking Group in Idaho. His responsibilities included delivering credit and non-credit products to commercial and residential developers and commercial real estate investors, as well as maintaining credit quality for the department. Steve built strategic partnerships with the Commercial Lending Group and Private Banking and Branch Divisions to support their efforts in developing new business relationships. During his tenure as manager, the department grew from inception to exceed $600 million in assets. The department provided returns of 15 percent year over year on loan growth and exceeded 20 percent year over year in fee income growth. It grew to become the largest and consistently most profitable department within the bank.
Steve was previously a vice president in the Commercial Real Estate Division at Imperial Bancorp. His multiple responsibilities included new loan origination (both construction and mini-perm loans) and management of troubled loans. He was responsible for loan underwriting, restructuring, workout, marketing, and successful disposition of nonperforming real estate credits totaling in excess of $200 million.
Steve has been a strategic advisor to small- to medium-sized privately owned companies in the service and high tech industries.
He graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcasting and film. Steve serves as president of the St. Mark’s School Foundation and is a board member of the Diamond Knights Baseball Organization in Boise, Idaho.
